Reporting a problem

If a crawl result looks wrong, you can send us the exact pages from inside the app so we can reproduce it.

Sending a report

  1. Click Report a problem in the top bar (or Report → Report a problem).
  2. Write what you expected and what you saw. List the URLs involved, or leave it empty and Sitemoth picks up to ten URLs with issues.
  3. Build the bundle. It is a zip you can open and inspect before sending.
  4. Send, or save the zip and email it.

What the bundle contains

  • manifest.json: app version, platform, crawl totals, your note, the URLs.
  • config.json: your crawl settings with cookies, passwords and authorization headers replaced by [redacted].
  • urls/<n>/: for each URL, the recorded row, its issues, inlinks and outlinks, response headers (secrets removed), raw HTML, rendered HTML and screenshot when available.
  • log.txt: the crawl log.
  • screenshot.png: the app window, if you ticked it.
  • fixture/: ready-made regression test skeletons for each page.

What happens next

We reproduce the case from the pages you sent. If the crawler was wrong, the fix ships in a following update and Report → My reports shows the version that contains it. If the site itself was the cause, you get a short explanation there instead. You can check the status any time with the report id.
