Sitemoth clients and reports

Sitemoth keeps each client's crawls, report branding and tracker settings together, then turns a crawl into a report the client can read.

Clients

Add a client from the start screen with Add client. A client has a name, one or more domains, report branding, a default tracker and notes. Sitemoth then works like this:

  • Sitemoth saves a new crawl in the client's folder when the start URL matches one of its domains. www does not matter and subdomains count.
  • Sitemoth keeps each client in its own folder, Documents/Sitemoth/Clients/<client name>, with a client.json file next to the crawls.
  • Sitemoth shows each client's last crawl, its health score and the change since the crawl before.
  • Sitemoth shows the client's name in the crawl toolbar and fills in the client's branding and tracker in the report and ticket dialogs.

A crawl saved before you added the client can be moved into the client's folder from the crawl toolbar. Because clients are plain folders, a team can share them through Dropbox or Google Drive, and removing a client's work means deleting its folder. You never have to add a client: crawls without one are saved as before.

Health score

Sitemoth scores a crawl from 0 to 100 and gives it a grade. Each problem counts by its severity and by the share of URLs of its kind that it affects, so a broken image counts against images, not pages. Errors weigh most, then warnings, then optional improvements.

Client reports

Open a crawl and press Client report. Sitemoth builds the report in one HTML file with no scripts and no outside requests:

  • The report carries your agency name, logo and brand color, the client's name and who prepared it.
  • The report opens with an executive summary in plain English and the health score.
  • The report lists the top fixes with the pages they affect and how to fix them.
  • The report adds Search Console and PageSpeed sections when the crawl has that data.

Save it as HTML or PDF, or open it in your browser. The "Audited with Sitemoth" footer can be turned off for saved files.

Share links

Tick the upload box and press Create link to share a report as a read-only web page. Sitemoth uploads that report to api.sitemoth.com and returns a link to copy. Share links follow these rules:

  • A share link expires after 90 days by default, and after 365 days at most.
  • A share link page tells search engines not to index it and runs no scripts.
  • A share link always shows the "Audited with Sitemoth" footer.
  • You can delete a share link from the Client report dialog at any time.
