Getting started

Five minutes from download to your first list of issues.

1. Install

Download the app from the download page, open the .dmg and drag Sitemoth to Applications.

2. Crawl

Type a URL in the bar at the top and press Start. Sitemoth reads robots.txt, discovers your XML sitemaps, and follows every internal link. The progress bar shows URLs crawled, URLs still queued, and the current rate.

Press Stop to end early and still get the analysis; Abort throws the crawl away.

3. Read the Overview

When the crawl finishes, the Overview lists every issue found with a count, a severity (error, warning, opportunity, info) and a priority. Click an issue to open the tab filter that lists its URLs.

4. Dig into a URL

Select any row to open the detail pane: overview, issues with how-to-fix text, inlinks, outlinks, images, response headers, hreflang, structured data, raw HTML and (when rendering is on) rendered HTML and a screenshot.

5. Export

Each tab exports to CSV or Excel for the current filter. Export → Everything writes all tabs and bulk reports to a folder. Crawl files (.sitemoth) live in Documents/Sitemoth and reopen with File → Open.

Limits

During the beta there is no URL limit. After the beta, free crawls stop at 1,000 URLs; images, CSS, scripts and external links count, so turn them off in the configuration to spend the limit on pages, or enter a license key in Settings.
